Furka Pass is a famous mountain pass in the Swiss Alps, located at an altitude of 2,429 meters (7,969 feet). It connects the towns of Andermatt in the canton of Uri with Gletsch in the canton of Valais, and is known for its stunning scenic beauty and challenging road conditions. The pass offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, glaciers, and valleys, making it a popular destination for travelers, hikers, and photographers.
One of the highlights of Furka Pass is the historic Furka Cogwheel Railway, which operates along part of the pass and offers a unique perspective of the area. The road itself is winding and narrow, and it is typically closed during the winter months due to heavy snow, reopening in late spring or early summer depending on weather conditions.
Furka Pass has also gained fame as a filming location for the James Bond movie Goldfinger (1964), where it featured in a memorable car chase scene involving a Ford Mustang and a Rolls-Royce.
